Learn to ride here!
Reviewed by MarloW on 2010-01-17T14:21:13Z

This stable has over 50 years of experience in instructing Chicago-area horselovers. Located directly across the street from miles of forest preserve trails, it has an indoor riding area with a comfortable viewing lounge and a large outdoor ring. The riding program includes all disciplines as well as a top-notch show team. Four 'school shows' are held during the year to give riders an opportunity to demonstrate the skills they have learned. Summer and holiday camps are available and well-filled. All in all, a perfect place for someone who has always wanted to learn to ride or for the person who already has!

Pros: Very experienced instructors, wonderful horses, convenient

Cons: None I can think of

do not go here

I went here for a while and it was horrible. the horses were very high strung for beginner riders, the instructors would yell at 10 yearr olds and younger for crying. the stupid instructors would leave me with a horse that would try to kick me while they read a magazine and used there phone and also talked with with there friends when she was suppose to be teachin me how to ride and there has been about 15 accidents in 6 months and two involvin broken bones and that is just th beginer class. they would also fill a 20 foot by 45 foot arena with 12 riders on horseback with horses that wuld kick and bolt away from eachothr

Pros: none there is nothing good about this stable

Cons: terrible place for beginners

No barn snobs here!

I've been to other barns in the area and having many years of professional animal care experience under my belt I can say that this is one of the best barns I've been to. Sure it's small but all of the horses are very well cared for. Beginner classes are just like beginner classes every where else but if you really want to learn talk to your instructors and they'll make sure you get on the right track. With school shows and outside shows there is something here for everyone. It's also important to note that this barn specializes in saddle seat riding but offers hunt seat as well.

Pros: well cared for animals, good instructors, horses for all abilities, many opportunities!

Cons: small indoor arena, beginner classes can be very crowded.
